I have two of them and they will keep near of the runway make clean for a while AFTER you lot give your layout an former fashioned wipe with alcohol and some sort of non abrasive cloth. Simply I discover the issue of track cleaning is one that requires bodily hand wiping especially if yous have a lot of dust or cooking nigh your layout. An air cleaner tin really aid in keeping some of the goo off your track by the way. The never catastrophe physics of unlike metals + current is going to create issues and dirt no matter what you do. I have tried i device that is actually pretty good, it'southward like a heavy flat motorcar, all brass with a rotating eye weighted roller that one wraps a supplied cloth around:

HO Calibration Rail Cleaner Model D35, manufactured by Centerline Products LLC, Reno, NV, 89512

The model I have but this one is dice bandage aluminum: http://world wide web.centerline-products.com/images/D35.jpg

I paid about $70.00 for mine, I think they are hand made and assembled in the US. It volition never vesture out. I would not buy the Marklin cleaning cars again, they are for express utilize and not rugged or weighted plenty (in my opinion).

But to clarify: The original poster put Marklin product number 86501 in the thread title - that is a Z calibration model.

The Centerline track cleaner looks similar a neat concept, just they don't offer a Z calibration version.

          Bill,

I have two of them (the Z gauge versionLOL ) and they mostly sit down in a siding gathering dust. I had planned to include them in a standard freight consist, only they struggle as a unmarried wagon behind a loco, and you're forever irresolute the pads. So I prefer to utilise a footling Isopropyl Alcohol on a rag and clean the runway by hand.

          Thanks,

          Wal
